Where centuries of learning meet timeless elegance

Discover the magic of Oxford, home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Britain’s most beautiful cities. The famous “dreaming spires” that have inspired poets and scholars for over 900 years create a skyline unlike anywhere else, while the honey-coloured stone buildings seem to glow with centuries of accumulated wisdom and tradition.

The heart of Oxford reveals itself as a living museum where ancient and modern exist in perfect harmony. Most of the magnificent colleges and university buildings cluster within the city centre, making it wonderfully easy to explore on foot. Each college offers its own architectural treasures and fascinating history – from the medieval grandeur of Christ Church (which inspired Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) to the classical perfection of the Radcliffe Camera, whose distinctive dome dominates the cityscape.

Don’t miss the world-famous Bodleian Library, one of Europe’s oldest libraries, where centuries of human knowledge are preserved in breathtaking surroundings. The library’s own shop offers unique literary treasures and Oxford memorabilia that you simply can’t find anywhere else.

Oxford perfectly embodies the traditional “town and gown” relationship – the academic university community living alongside the vibrant commercial town. This creates a unique atmosphere where scholarly tradition mingles with excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment. Browse through the delightful covered market, a Victorian gem filled with independent shops offering everything from handmade chocolates to bespoke tailoring.

When you need a break from exploring, Oxford offers countless charming possibilities. Enjoy a traditional punt along the peaceful river, sample local ales in historic pubs that have served scholars for centuries, or choose from an excellent selection of restaurants and wine bars. The city’s compact size means everything is within easy reach, yet there’s enough to discover that every visit reveals something new.

What awaits you: World’s oldest English-speaking university • Magnificent college architecture • Famous Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera • Historic covered market • Traditional river punting • Centuries of academic atmosphere
