The short list for the 2010 UK Coach Awards have been anounced this week ...

and Bugler Coaches have been nominated for two awards

UK Coach Award

In 2009 we beat a host of other operators including National Express to win the Accessibility Award. The award is designed to recognise initiatives designed to make coach travel more accessible to those with some form of mobility handicap.

We have been nominated again for this award in 2010

The second award we have been nominated for this year is for the

Coach Travel Programme Award

due to our innovative and original ideas in development and implementation of programmes of coach tours and/or excursions. We are very excited about this award as we have worked very hard on our programme of day excursions for the last couple of years, bringing you the best trips we could possibly offer

at the lowest possible prices.

With the winners being presented with their trophies on the 28th April 2010 at an evening ceremony in Manchester we shall have to

wait until then to find out if we have won

Between then and now there are plenty of trips for you to enjoy

We look forward to seeing you on a Great Day Out soon

Well! It has been a busy month a Bugler Coaches

Hopefully you should all now have your copy of the 2010 Spring/Summer Brochure. Places on all our trips are selling fast so if you haven't got your

Great Days Out booked yet best put your best foot forwards and get on the phone or book on the website

If your brochure still has not got to your doorstep please phone us on

01225 444422 and we'll get one into the post

It has also been a busy month for all the attractions that we are visiting over the season. Lots of activity as places open, spring has sprung & the sun comes out

Warwick Castle (which we are visiting on Wed 26th May and Mon 27th Sept) have just announced their first Shakespeare themed tour around the Castle. With many secrets about the Bard buried deep within the Castle walls one of their unique storyteller guides will show you round and tell you all. Combine this with a visit to Stratford Upon Avon (you have the choice of Sat 10th July or Thurs 9th Sept) and you could find you learn a lot about the English Play Write

The first trips of the year have taken place. Many thanks to those customers of ours who have given us their feedback on how these trips went

and what they enjoyed most about the day

We have heard some great stories from those who travelled to Lyndhurst and visited the New Forest Ponies. Our newest coach driver Jamie took charge of this trip and you have been high in your praise for him. He has said himself what a great day he had, how lovely all the passengers were (which we already knew), and how much he is looking forward to the next Great Day Out with you all

Hugh has also received some great feedback from those of you who treated their Mothers (or the Mothers that treated themselves) to a Great Day Out on Mothers Day to Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water. I hope you all had a fabulous time and felt really spoilt by the end of it

As always please let us know what you think and how we can improve the service that we offer to you. The email address is info@buglercoaches.co.uk

2010 is the 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Dame Agatha Christie

Born in Torquay in 1890, the famous novelist is celebrated

throughout the English Riviera. Many of our day trips go to places she visited and enjoyed herself and will allow you to explore her world

Torquay, as her birthplace and home for many years, has much to see and do that is Dame related. The Agatha Christie Mile starts at the Grand Hotel and travels along the front to the Imperial Hotel at the other side of the bay. She spent the honeymoon of her first marriage at the Grand Hotel in 1914, before seeing her new husband off to France and to fight.

In Princess Gardens you can see bust of Agatha Christie, sculpted by Dutch sculptor Carol Van Den Boom-Cairns. You can also visit the Pavillion where Agatha would have enjoyed many concerts.

You'll next pass the Torquay Museum which is hosting an Agatha Christie Exhibition, inlcuding an image of her enjoying roller-skating on the pier with her friends. Agatha Christies father managed the original collection in this museum

At the end of the mile is the Imperial Hotel, where Agatha would have enjoyed many social occasions and dances

Dame Agatha Christie also enjoyed visiting the surrounding countryside in her free time. She is known to have visited Cockington Village on a number of occasions, and you can follow in her hoof prints when you take a horse and carriage ride through the hidden gardens of the Cockington Court

The final place you can visit in this celebratory year is her former home of the Greenways Estate. This can be reached by ferry from either Dartmouth or Torquay and offers a great day out. Donated to the National Trust by her family in 1999, the house has only been opened to the public in recent years and contains many family treasures. Entrance for National Trust Members is free.

So you can see that there is much to do and learn about Agatha Christie throughout the English Riviera. And Bugler Coaches is only too happy to help get you there. See below for a list of trips and dates mentioned in this section
